DESCRIPTION:Ben Coleman is a TX/SC singer songwriter. At age 12 he began teaching himself guitar and fell in love with the instrument. Although continually writing songs and recording instrumentals\, Ben never sang in front of an audience until he was 22. “I always fancied myself a guitarist\, not a singer\, but I got drunk one night at an open mic in Colorado and someone let me play their guitar and sing”. Ben played lead guitar and sang in a folk rock band in Colorado called Full Moon Float and released the EP “Full Moon Float” on iTunes/Spotify before the band split up. Ben’s songwriting has evolved into a blended folk interpretation of influences such as The Gaslight Anthem\, Alabama Shakes\, Kings of Leon\, Trampled by Turtles and more. DESCRIPTION:Driveway Dive is a local independent DFW rock band based out of Plano\, TX. The band formed in 2018 when Gabe Gotay\, Jacob Essy\, and Sebastian Hardy moved in together. While Gabe primarily played guitar\, he also had a drum set that he setup in their new garage. While his new roommates were initially annoyed\, Jacob quickly picked up the sticks and Sebastian joined soon after on bass. After a few months of jamming\, Gabe called his old college friend Joshua Stone to join them as a singer and second guitarist. \nOver the past 3 years they have played all around DFW; from local bars and breweries to clubs like Sundown at Granada\, Ruins\, The Foundation Room\, as well as private events and annual charities such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk\, Big Climb Dallas\, or the North Texas Pride Festival in Plano and Frisco. \nIn May of 2022 they went to Reeltime Audio Recording Studio in Denton\, Texas where Eric Delegard (famous for producing the first 3 Bowling for Soup records in that studio) helped them record their 9 best originals. The album released on September 23rd\, and the band played a celebratory show at Sundown at Granada. DESCRIPTION:“It’s a porch-stompin’\, fiddle-sawin’\, bass-spankin’ hootenanny!” — Lifestyle Frisco \nDescribed as high-powered “hootenanny\,” The Bodarks sprouted up on the North Texas scene in 2012\, throwing down “ragtime\, jug band\, and Western swing\, but mixed with punk\,” (Lifestyle Frisco). They’ve been compared to genre-twisting folk acts like “Pokey LaFarge\, Old Crow Medicine Show\, and The Avett Brothers” (KHYI 95.3FM The Range) due to their unique style that has more recently earned them a nomination as “Best Country Act in Dallas” (Ghosty Awards) and even caught the attention of America’s Got Talent (see the Blog story). \nFormerly members of rock and country cover bands\, the musicians got together (Thank-you\, Craigslist!) with the idea of creating something old but new\, with no genre borders. The horse-apple bearing bodark (bois d’arc ) tree seemed an apt symbol for these transplants from the farm to the city. No sooner had they formed the band than they were selected as a Shiner Rising Star finalist in 2013. Their blend of styles caught the attention of the judges and press: “You create your own genre\,” said Donnie Nelson (GM of the Dallas Mavericks). “You crash through every genre.”  And M.J. Farmer of Buddy Magazine described their original songs as proof that they’ve “developed their own unique Americana music.” \nThe Bodarks’ live performances cross borders as well\, “connecting with the crowd and trying to bring us up on the stage\,” says Brett Dillon (KHYI\, 95.3FM The Range)\, with “delightful harmonies that had the audience singing along to their songs\,” says Sarah Badran (Blitz Weekly). The wide range of ages and musical tastes among their fans reveals the diversity of venues performed – from the House of Blues and Lava Cantina to local pubs and festivals such as Wildflower Fest – as well as in the diverse touring acts for which they have side-staged (Kansas\, Pat Benatar\, Gary P. DESCRIPTION:Ben Coleman is a TX/SC singer songwriter. At age 12 he began teaching himself guitar and fell in love with the instrument. Although continually writing songs and recording instrumentals\, Ben never sang in front of an audience until he was 22. “I always fancied myself a guitarist\, not a singer\, but I got drunk one night at an open mic in Colorado and someone let me play their guitar and sing”. Ben played lead guitar and sang in a folk rock band in Colorado called Full Moon Float and released the EP “Full Moon Float” on iTunes/Spotify before the band split up. Ben’s songwriting has evolved into a blended folk interpretation of influences such as The Gaslight Anthem\, Alabama Shakes\, Kings of Leon\, Trampled by Turtles and more.
